When It’s Time To Take It All Off

Screw YOLO! I’m tired! You know what? We’re all tired! And what a dumb phrase anyway…YOLO (rolls eyes). Who has time for YOLO? I sure as hell don’t. Except, I suppose, that was sort of my reasoning behind starting this blog. No regrets, right? YOLO. Dammit! Well, there goes that for a smooth opening statement!

But seriously, I am tired.

I am, lets just say, over the age of 30 (ugh!). Single (ugh again!). Mama to Finn (my dog), work full time and try to maintain a regular workout schedule. I blog every other week and film YouTube video’s on the opposite weeks. I’m a clean freak and a busy body. More recently, I’ve also decided to add volunteering and recreational reading to my plate. So yeah, I am tired! I’m what Beyonce would call a MOFO independent woman!

You’re probably reading this thinking, what’s she got to complain about? She doesn’t know what tired is! And you know what? I’m going to agree with you on this one. Shocker, I know. Let it soak in. You’re likely not going to hear those words from me again.

To all of the Mom’s out there, working full time jobs or staying at home with your kids, I’d be willing to bet you know TIRED on a whole ‘nother level. I’d trade my single life and an average of 8 hours of sleep a night to be a Mom in a heartbeat so consider your tired asses, lucky! Honestly though, I’ve got to hand it to you guys. I have some serious love and respect for the great (and tired) Mama’s of the world!

Cut to the chase, you say? Okay, okay! You got it.

I know the pain of falling asleep on the couch, then having to peel myself up, limb by limb. Only to muster up juuuust enough energy wash off my makeup and brush my teeth. At times, I think may just die (literally, die of exhaustion) before I get all of my makeup off. And then I think about how I would feel waking up with a dirty face and a pile of mascara under my eyes. It’s bad enough waking up at 6:00 in the morning, let’s not make it even harder on ourselves, Ana!

How would you like it if I told you that I had not one, but four great solutions for getting your makeup off in a flash? I’m here to save you time, getting your butt to bed that much faster!

In the words of Ryan Seacrest, “Are you ready? Dim the lights, here we go…”

ONE: Boscia MakeUp BrakeUp Cool Cleansing Oil

Boscia Makeup Brakeup Oil.jpg Boscia is one of the world’s first preservative-free, botanically-based skincare lines. Advanced Japanese technology powered by botanical science.

  • What Does It Claim To Do? This cleansing oil is formulated to remove impurities and makeup from the skin without leaving an oily residue behind. Yup, 100% TRUE!
  • What Is It Free Of?  Parabens, sulfates, phthalates, preservatives, artificial fragrance, color, gluten and ethanol alcohol. YAY!
  • How To Use: Take one pump into your hands and rub it over the makeup on your face. It will have a light cooling sensation at first and gently warm up as you move the product around. After it breaks up the makeup on your face, you can then rinse it off with your hands and warm water. Follow this step with your cleanser. If needed, use an eye makeup remover to remove any remaining mascara from under your eyes.
  • Why I Love It: It’s quick, it’s easy and it’s gentle. I have had great luck with this brand in regards to it clearing up my skin, probably in part to its more natural ingredients! Trust me, it’s worth the splurge. It’s not much more than drugstore prices and worth it’s weight in gold!

TWO: Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water

Garnier Micellar Water.jpg

Garnier’s SkinActive products are part of a new skin care line, designed to meet the needs of all skin types from facial cleansers to scrubs, BB creams and anti-aging moisturizers.

  • What Does It Claim To Do? This all-in-1 oil-free cleansing water is powerful enough to remove waterproof makeup, yet gentle on the skin. A Micellar techonology; like a magnet, capture and lift away dirt, oil and makeup.
  • What Is It Free Of?  Oil, alcohol and fragrance. YAY!
  • How To Use: After washing your face with cleanser, pour a small amount onto a cotton pad and gently rub it over your face; removing any remaining makeup or mascara under your eyes. No need to rinse off, you can then follow this step with your serum or moisturizer.
  • Why I Love It:  At $6.99 for a 13.5 oz bottle, you get a much bigger bang for your buck in comparison to all other drugstore eye makeup removers and this one is safe to use over your entire face! It doesn’t leave an oily residue behind or irritate your eyes. It does a great job at getting rid of stubborn mascara and to top it off, is free of alcohol and fragrance, which typically leads to irritation of the skin. Conveniently, you can pick this up at Target or any major drugstore, too!

THREE: The Original MakeUp Eraser Washcloth

Makeup Eraser.jpg

The Original MakeUp Eraser® is machine washable. It measures 7″ w by 16″ l.

  • What Does It Claim To Do? Remove smear-proof, waterproof makeup and mascara. It removes the most stubborn types of makeup, including stage, sports, and theatrical makeup. Yup! 100% TRUE!
  • What Is It Free Of? Chemicals. This thing is seriously magic!
  • How To Use: Without using any soap or cleanser, saturate the washcloth under warm water. Gently rub the washcloth over your all of your makeup, including your eyes. Once you are satisfied with what it has removed, rinse off the washcloth with warm water again and take a bar of soap to it to wash off it in between uses. You can then follow this step with your cleanser.
  • Why I Love It: My favorite way to use this is in the shower. I hang it on the towel bar outside of my shower and grab it right when I first step in. First thing I do is remove my makeup with the washcloth, then take my bar of soap to clean and rinse it out and hang it to dry for next time. It will blow your mind at how well it removes eye makeup, not to mention everything else. I love that this is one way to reduce chemical use in your skincare regimen. Machine washable and good for up to 1000 uses, this product will BEYOND pay for itself in it’s lifetime!

FOUR: Garnier Soothing Makeup Removing Cleansing Towelettes

Garnier Makeup Wipes.jpg

Garnier’s SkinActive products are part of a new skin care line, designed to meet the needs of all skin types from facial cleansers to scrubs, BB creams and anti-aging moisturizers.

  • What Does It Claim To Do? Specially adapted to suit sensitive skin, the Garnier Soothing Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes are infused with calming plant extract and vitamin E to cleanse and help clear skin of impurities, oil, and waterproof mascara.
  • What Is It Free Of?  Alcohol, fragrance or dyes. YAY!
  • How To Use: Using one cleansing towelette, wipe it over your face and eyes to remove all makeup. Toss when done. Follow this step with your favorite cleanser and the Garnier SkinActive Micellar Water to remove any remaining stubborn makeup.
  • Why I Love It:  Who doesn’t love makeup wipes? They are like the cell phones of skin care. How did we live without them before they became so wildly popular? Every brand has their own but after trying SO many, I have found that these have enough moisture to actually remove makeup and are gentle enough not to irritate or tug at the skin. Garnier is consistently a more affordable brand in comparison to others at the drugstore and at $4.99 for 25 towelettes, you wont find a better or cheaper alternative than reaching for a generic store brand.

Trust me on these recommendations. The last thing you want to experience is FOMO on a great product! I can’t wait to see what the “kids” come up with next year for a catchy phrase. How about LAMO? No acronym needed there!
